Detection of viral antigens or antibodies in serum by ELISA

Detection of viral antigens or antibodies in serum by ELISA is a common method used to diagnose viral infections/ vaccinations. Novatein Biosciences offers solutions to the experimental virology research by manufacturing easy-to-use ELISA kits that can rapidly detect the viral antigen/antibody in short time. Early diagnosis of viral infections is particularly important, as patients may die if appropriate treatment is not administered. In most of the cases, primary virus infection is characterized by elevations in specific IgM antibody levels 3 to 5 days after the onset of symptoms and generally persists for 30 to 60 days. IgG levels become elevated later on and may remain detectable for life. During secondary infection, IgM levels generally rise more slowly and reach lower levels than in primary infection, while IgG levels rise rapidly from 1 to 2 days after the onset of symptoms.

To support the researchers in virology, Novatein Biosciences offers the following:

  • Validated and ready to use ELISA kits to detect antigens/ antibodies (IgM, IgG, IgA) from various species.
  • Recombinant viral antigens
  • Antibodies to viral antigens
